The Iron Giant is one of the most complex MultiVersus characters added so far. These tips will help maximize his potential.

The Iron Giant, the larger-than-life alien robot from the 1999 Warner Bros. animated film, has been loved by many over the years. It makes sense that he was added to the colorful cast of the new Warner Bros. platform brawler game MultiVersus.

The Iron Giant is true to his namesake, so he is roughly twice as tall as all the other characters. This is both a pro and a con, depending on how he is played. His large size could make him an easy target for enemy players, so it is helpful to consider the specifics of his move sets, combos, and partners in order to play him efficiently.

The Iron Giant has a complex moveset based on rocket power and electricity mixed with fuel and bolt resource management. Like many other MultiVersus characters, his moves vary based on whether he’s in the air or on the ground -- and some moves vary even further when he’s in Rage Mode. Therefore, learning both movesets is imperative. Most MultiVersus characters have a double jump, but The Iron Giant has rocket-powered feet that raise him into the air, so he can stay airborne longer than any other character.

His regular moves include a car smash, a kick, a stomp, and throwing scrap metal. His special moves include an attack where he picks up an enemy and carries them across the map, an attack/shield combo where he spins an old car around himself, an aimable cannonball where he flies up and slams down at whichever point the player chooses, and a circle of bolts the iron giant summons around himself with that act as armor.

When playing as the Iron Giant, players must focus on consuming bolts as often as possible. He generates them when he eats the metal scraps he summons by his metal-generating kick attack. A scrap of metal will fall on the ground nearby, and those are the scraps that generate the bolts. He can have up to five at a time, which is the best-case scenario for his neutral special attack. When used, the Giant's health and the health of his allies turns gray, and they cannot be damaged for as long as the gray health bar lasts.

Players must also keep watch of The Iron Giant’s Rage Meter. The meter will fill, and when he transitions to Rage Mode, many additional, more powerful attacks become available until Rage Mode ends. His Rage Mode turns many of his normal or special attacks into attacks that shoot lasers, electrify enemies, shoot projectiles, and create a shockwave.

Since The Iron Giant is a tank, it is best to pair him with heavy-hitters dealers that can deal damage from a distance. The Iron Giant should try to absorb as much of the damage as possible, which allows the other player to damage enemies without worrying too much about their own health. This is an instance where the Giant’s size is definitely helpful. With the inclusion of character classes, it’s easy to choose the best partners for The Iron Giant. Assassins like Arya Stark, Finn and Harley Quinn, or a Mage/Ranged character like Bugs Bunny or Tom and Jerry, pair the best with this massive tank.
